Looking for decodable readers that align with the UFLI Scope and Sequence? Books 8–34 are now available. Each book is carefully designed to match its corresponding UFLI lesson, making it easy to provide students with meaningful, targeted reading practice that reinforces the phonics skills they're learning.

I originally started creating these readers for my own students because I wanted engaging decodable texts that followed the UFLI sequence and included background knowledge and key vocabulary to support comprehension. After seeing how much they benefited my students, I'm excited to make them available for yours as well!

Fun with a Purpose

To extend the learning and engagement, every book in the series includes a hidden picture puzzle that ties into the theme of the story. These playful puzzles help children develop important discrimination skills. Visual discrimination is a vital skill to help students notice the differences in letters and symbols. Hidden pictures are also just simply FUN!

Learn Multiple Meaning Words

Share These Multiple-Meaning Words Before Reading

When students encounter a word with multiple meanings in a text, they need to use context clues to figure out the intended meaning. By learning the different meanings of a single word, students deepen their understanding of language. This helps them make connections between words and different contexts, leading to more flexible and precise usage. Understanding and using multiple meaning words helps students express themselves more clearly and precisely in speaking and writing.

building background knowledge

Share This Background Knowledge Before Students Read

While decodable texts are designed to align with students’ phonics skills and build word recognition, comprehension remains a critical goal of reading. When students are given context—such as information about the topic, setting, vocabulary, or characters—they are better prepared to make meaning from what they read.

Background knowledge activates prior learning and helps students connect new information to what they already know. This supports both language comprehension and engagement.
